RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The Analytical Lab Supervisor must meet both external and internal customer needs.
- Must ensure all analysts are properly trained and qualified on relevant KTP, customer, and compendia test methods and procedures before use and that training is properly documented for each analyst.
- Must oversee the acquisition, storage, and disposal of raw material, bulk, and finished product reference standards per KTP and customer requirements.
- Perform analysis on lab samples, hands-on troubleshooting of instrumentation/analyses.
- Must recommend appropriate internal and external training; and conduct annual performance evaluations according to KTP policies and procedures.
- Must analyze laboratory operations and apply lean and Continuous Improvement techniques to efficient cost savings.
- Must ensure laboratory instrumentation is properly maintained, always within calibration, and audit ready status.
- Must meticulously review and track analytical results to identify trends that could indicate either a manufacturing or laboratory control issue.
- The Analytical Lab Supervisor must serve as a back-up to the KTP Sensory Panel Coordinator for sensory evaluation of raw materials, bulk, and finished product.
- Must ensure that all analytical result reports used in the lab match current customer specifications and are issued as controlled documents through Document Control.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- The Analytical Lab Supervisor must hold a Bachelor’s degree with a strong emphasis in natural science, preferably Chemistry. A Master’s degree is preferred.
- Must have a minimum of 5 years’ working experience in a cGMP compliant industrial analytical laboratory.
- Must be to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, business documents, legal documents, and governmental regulations.
- Must have a strong understanding of analytical chemistry instrumentation, techniques and testing (with GC, HPLC, TOC, etc.)
- Must have excellent communication skills.
- Strong project management skills
- Must have advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.
- The Analytical Lab Supervisor must be able to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in oral, written, mathematical or diagram form.
- Must be proficient in computers.
