Responsibilities
- Process and document samples.
- Analyze bulk and thin-section slides for asbestos fibers using PLM (Polarized Light Microscopy).
- Determine optical properties and visual percentages of detected asbestos grains.
- Quantify asbestos content and identify other sample components.
- Record findings in the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
- Ensure quality control procedures are followed.
- Adhere to lab safety protocols and EPA standards for asbestos identification.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Environmental Sciences, related science, or PLM(Polarized Light Microscopy) Asbestos training course
- At-least 2 years of PLM experience in asbestos testing
- Adhere to lab safety protocols, including proper use of fume hoods, personal protective equipment (PPE), and sample containment.
- Be willing to work extended hours and occasional weekends when necessary
