Job Responsibilities:
- The Bindery Operator Position must be an expert operating at least 3 core bindery machines. The 6 core machines-Stitcher, Cutter, Folder, Folder/Gluer, Die Cutter or Collator. Must produce high quality printing jobs, to meet customer and company expectations, in a cost-effective manner while meeting strict deadlines.
- Perform an inspection to ensure quality standards are met - specifically to quality products in a timely, efficient and cost-effective manner.
- Responsible for selecting properly packaging and label samples further production for outside delivery. Represent the Company’s mission statement to provide the highest quality, most cost-effective business communication solutions available.
- Maintains a broad knowledge of company workflows and advanced expertise in departmental procedures and requirements.
- Using tools such as densitometers, spectrophotometers, and paper calipers.
- Adheres to ISO Quality Procedures, Work Instructions, and completes required forms and checklists accurately.
- Collaborate with team members to maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Develops and manages department schedules, ensuring clear communication of task timelines.
- Reviews and verifies information for clarity, consistency, and product conformity.
- Responsible for selecting and sorting samples to ensure consistency, color, and quality alignment across jobs, including complex kitting and mailing processes (e.g., Letter Shop Instructions, Matrix, Matching Mailing).
- Operating knowledge of stitching machines, including troubleshooting
- Ability to set up various book sizes, including 3, 5 and 6 pockets plus cover feeder and 4th and 5th knives.Â
- Perform daily, monthly, and quarterly maintenance on stitching equipment
- Attending production meetings prepared to answer job-specific questions and communicate material needs to meet deadlines.
Job Qualifications:
- High school graduate/GED
- Minimum of 3-5 experience operating 3 core machines in a print environment.
- Highly motivated with a positive attitude and ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to multi-task
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions
- Follow team leader instructions for Bindery processes
- Communicate effectively with manufacturing personnel
- Have a minimum knowledge of computers (knowledge of PSI is a plus)
- Keep accurate and complete daily records for data collection
- Knowledge of complete Microsoft Office 365 suite, Acrobat Pro, PSI/MIS/ERP and Prestige for Scheduling.
- Excellent eye for detail
- Highly motivated with a positive attitude and ability to work independently in fast paced, deadline driven environment and comfortable with overall Manufacturing workflow, work with effective manner
- Ability to multi-task in a high paced environment
