RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • The Chief Financial Officer must oversee and implement budgeting for long term and short-term financial planning, monitor progress and present operational metrics both internally and externally.
  • Must develop and manage direct staff, including managers in finance, facilities, and IT.
  • Must ensure that all records are maintained, prepare financial reports, perform financial analysis and projections, and revenue/expense analysis.
  • Must collaborate with the Executive Director on all operational and strategic issues.
  • Engage the Board’s audit committee and participate in all necessary meetings.
  • Must prepare and communicate monthly and annual financial statements, manage cash flow and forecasting; direct all financial and departmental accounting.
  • The Chief Financial Officer must coordinate all audit activities and filing of Schedule B for the annual UFR, Form 990 and Form PC.
  • Review all formal finance, administrative, payroll, billing and IT-related procedures, processes, and administration, recommending improvements to current systems and management of the systems.
  • Responsible for risk management including annual procurement of all agency’s general liability and Workers’ Compensation Insurance in partnership with Human Resources.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • The Chief Financial Officer must hold a BS in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related degree.
  • CPA/CMA or an MBA is highly desired.
  • Must have non-profit experience!
  • Must have worked as a business partner to the chief executive of a Massachusetts based nonprofit entity.
  • Must have a minimum of 10 years' work experience managing a minimum budget of $5 million.
  • Must have strong accounting, finance, cost control, GAAP, and federal/state financial regulations preferably in a small to medium size organization.
  • Must have experience for filing of the Schedule B of the annual UFR, form 990 and Form PC and a working knowledge of Medicaid is highly desirable.
  • Must have prior management experience with accounting, billing, payroll, facilities, and/or IT functions, including staff supervision.
  • Must have experience with contract procurement and other financial matters.
  • The Chief Financial Officer must have a commitment to the social or human service sector with a desire to work in a growth-oriented, mission-driven environment.
  • Excellent business writing, oral communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and accounting/financial management software(s).
  • Must be willing to work on-site and be fully vaccinated.
