  • The Chief Financial Officer must manage accounting functions for the county including budgeting, payroll, performing internal audits and maintaining updated records.
  • Must work alongside the BOC and county chairman.
  • Prepare balance sheets, financial statements, review general ledger and ensure compliance with GAAP.
  • Exercise understanding of GAS and ASB
  • Must supervise and mentor accounting and clerical personnel.
  • Must implement and be responsible for long-term strategic initiatives for the county.
  • Oversee county’s annual budget, expenses, financial management and procurement.
  • Must represent the county in a professional manner.
  • Oversee policy implementation, departmental operations, changes to the current reporting system.
  • Monitor staff performance, conduct reviews and resolve performance issues.
  • The Chief Financial Officer must oversee county tax millage, home/property tax processes.
  • Maintain all state, federal policies.
  • Perform staff advisor duties for the chairman and BOC.
  • Review existing policies and implement improvements and assist with the county’s annual operating budget.
  • Ensure staff are updated on proper procedures.
  • Attend functions as a representative of the county.
  • Coordinate with county chairman and board of commissioners
  • Implement county wide policies and ensure proper paperwork is filed and maintained.

  • The Chief Financial Officer must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required.
  • Must have a minimum of 10 years’ experience.
  • Must have experience with tax millage.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is desired.
  • Must have 10 + years local/state government experience.
  • Must have supervisory experience.
  • Extensive familiarity with GAAP, GAS and ASB
  • Experience overseeing reporting system.
  • Experience overseeing county budget is desired.
  • Adept at communicating with government personnel.
  • Must be willing to undergo background check and drug screen.
