RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and maintain comprehensive accounting policies and procedures across the company. Oversee control systems and transaction processing operations to ensure compliance and efficiency.
- Manage outsourced accounting functions and services.
- Supervise the accounting department’s operations, including designing an effective organizational structure to support the bank’s strategic goals and objectives.
- Oversee accounting activities across all departments and branch networks.
- Create and refine profit and loss models for branches and departments to assess production profitability.
- Enhance corporate efficiency by optimizing workflows, operations, and staffing levels. Implement automated processes for all accounting and operational functions.
- Identify and leverage revenue opportunities to boost the bank’s overall profitability, including non-interest income and net interest margin.
- Analyze bank performance through peer comparisons, UBPR reports, and ratio analysis.
- Establish and implement a daily dashboard accounting system to monitor key financial metrics, including balance sheets, income statements, and significant transactions.
- Provide accounting, reporting, and operational support to the Trust Department as needed.
- Oversee and enhance internal control procedures to safeguard the Bank’s assets.
- Process, record, and authorize disbursement requests in line with company policies and procedures.
- Manage the Bank’s fixed asset records and related depreciation schedules.
- Handle all general ledger reconciliations.
- Prepare or supervise the preparation of financial statements, business activity reports, financial forecasts, annual budgets, and regulatory reports.
- Stay updated on organizational policies, federal and state regulations, and current accounting standards, and suggest necessary updates to policies and procedures.
- Create and implement internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures for budget management, cash and credit control, and accounting functions.
- Coordinate the preparation of all documentation required for the Bank’s external financial statement audit and collaborate with the Bank’s audit/compliance department as needed.
- Support the ALCO/Public Funds department in managing assets and liabilities, ensuring accurate measurement, monitoring, management, and reporting of interest rate and liquidity risks.
- Collaborate with an external accounting firm to analyze the Bank’s federal and state tax liabilities and manage the preparation of federal and state tax returns.
- Prepare year-end financial statements, including footnotes and schedules.
- Assess and interpret new accounting standards and emerging guidance, such as CECL.
- Supervise the internal payroll process and manage accounts payable.
- Build and maintain relationships with banking, insurance, and external accounting professionals to facilitate financial operations.
- Oversee, train, and evaluate staff within the financial accounting department.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 8 years of experience in Banking or Accounting.Â
- Certified Public Accountant desired.
- Experience handling payroll.
- Ability to manage assets and liabilities.
