RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The Chief Financial Officer is responsible for all financial planning and accounting practices as well as relationship with lending institutions, shareholders, and the financial community while keeping the hospital CEO and Board of Trustees duly informed of the financial condition of the facility.
- Must be responsible for federal statutes surrounding participation in the Medicare and Medicaid programs, including, but not limited to: EMTALA, Medicare fraud and abuse issues, Stark legislation, and IRS guidelines pertaining to the operation of not-for-profit entities.
- Must prepare and maintain regular financial planning reports; Monthly profit and loss forecast (vs
- budget); cash flow forecast
- Must oversee treasury, budgeting, audit, tax, accounting, purchasing, real estate, and insurance activities for the organization.
- Ensure legal and regulatory compliance regarding all financial functions.
- Must direct the Finance Accounting Team in providing and directing procedures and systems necessary.
- Appraise financial position and issues systematic financial and operating reports.
- Analyze, consolidate and direct all cost accounting procedures together with other statistical and routine reports.
- Must adhere to policies and operations in accordance with JCAHO, federal, state, and local guidelines, organizational and departmental policies, and procedures.
- The Chief Financial Officer must oversee long-term budgetary planning and cost management in alignment with the strategic plan.
- Oversee cash, investment, and asset management and ensure proper maintenance of all accounting systems and function; supervise materials management staff.
- Complete the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial statements.
- Review all month-end closing activities including general ledger maintenance, balance sheet reconciliations and overhead cost allocations.
- Must manage finances on real estate affairs consisting of leases and sub-leases.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- The Chief Financial Officer must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. MBA preferred.
- Must have served a minimum of 5 Years as a Chief Financial Officer in a healthcare setting, preferably critical access, or hospital health system.
- Must have thorough knowledge of GAAP, finance, reimbursement, budgeting, credit, collection, and awareness of continuing changes that affect financial reporting.
- Must have experience in cash flow and revenue cycle, from a CAH sector.
- Must have advanced skills in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and EMR database.
