RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Administer, maintain, and support the PACS system, including image workflow, archiving, auto-routing, and prefetching of related prior studies.
- Collaborate with clinical departments to understand their imaging needs and tailor the PACS functionality to enhance clinical efficiency and patient care.
- Ensure the integrity and security of patient images and data, in compliance with HIPAA and other relevant regulations.
- Perform regular system performance checks, troubleshooting, and coordinate with vendors for system upgrades, patches, and fixes.
- Develop and implement training sessions for clinical staff on the efficient use of the PACS system.
- Participate in the planning and execution of integration projects for new systems and modalities to the PACS.
- Liaise with IT infrastructure teams to ensure network performance and hardware are optimized for PACS requirements.
- Document system configurations, changes, and operational procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Informatics, Computer Science, Radiologic Science, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in PACS administration or clinical informatics within a healthcare setting.
- Strong understanding of DICOM, HL7, and other imaging communication standards.
- Experience with IT infrastructure relevant to PACS, including networking, databases, and storage systems.
- Familiarity with clinical workflows in radiology and other departments utilizing imaging.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Certification in PACS administration (e.g., CIIP or PARCA) is highly desirable.
