Position Summary:
The Engineering Director - Polymers will lead the design, development, and production of advanced polymer and composite products. This role involves overseeing R&D projects and managing cross-functional teams (engineering, quality, production, logistics) to ensure successful product delivery. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in polymer engineering, leadership in large-scale projects, and a knack for driving innovation in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- The Engineering Director will lead complex polymer and composite projects from concept to delivery.
- Serve as the subject matter expert on polymer production processes and industry best practices.
- Develop project proposals, schedules, budgets, and ensure milestone delivery.
- The Engineering Director will manage Integrated Product Teams (IPT) across engineering, program management, quality, logistics, and production.
- Lead engineering teams and mentor junior engineers.
- Oversee product and technical ownership, driving continuous improvement in design and production.
- The Engineering Director will deliver technical reports, presentations, and proposals to internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- The Engineering Director must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Polymer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related fields (master’s preferred).
- Must have 8+ years of experience in Polymer Engineering with proven leadership in large-scale projects.
- Expertise in polymer and composite materials design, fabrication, and testing.
- The Engineering Director must have proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Deltek CostPoint).
- U.S. Citizenship or Green Card required; must obtain a U.S. DoD Security Clearance.
Desired Skills:
- The Engineering Director must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Hands-on experience in polymer manufacturing and technical support for composite production.
- Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings, GD&T, and material specifications.
- Experience leading R&D efforts and producing technical documentation.
- The Engineering Director must be a proactive problem-solver with strong task prioritization and deadline management skills.
