RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Formulating a variety OTC product from concept to finished product.
- Assist, monitor, and execute pilot and production batches.
- Show creativity and resourcefulness to come up with solutions to issues which may arise during the development process and/or in anticipation to issues which may come up in pilot plant or manufacturing.
- Produce formulas for customers, on schedule that fit production requirements.
- Utilize and follow relevant legal requirements, regulations, and product development standards.
- Manage multiple projects and follow through on all aspects of projects from inception to product launch and post launch issues resolution. Attention to details through the development steps.
- Determine and perform appropriate cost reductions (raw materials)
- Scale-up of approved formulations, to include identification of critical process variables.
- Set product specifications and write compounding procedures.
- Supervise and coordinate pilot batches.
- Provide paperwork for new formula and new raw materials for operations.
- Provide specifications and other information to QC to receive and test new ingredients and finished goods.
- Research product formulations and properties and interactions of raw materials.
- Vendor research for raw materials
- Interpret results of laboratory findings and assess risks involved in new products and communicate findings to sales and upper management.
- Training and supervising technicians and temporary employees
- Working knowledge of FDA regulations, and cGMPs
- Write technical reports and prepare graphs and charts to document experimental results. Compile, document, review and interpret results of tests and analyses to provide accurate, precise, and timely reporting of conditions and results.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of the instruments.
- Edit, write, approve, and implement new and revised Lab SOPs and methods of analysis.
- Performs other duties as assigned or needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have a college degree in a scientific discipline.
- 3-5 years of relevant work experience (such as a Chemist I or Chemist II).
- Knowledge with MSOffice Software applications
