RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborates with management to set production and quality control standards.
- Adjusts production schedules and priorities in response to equipment failures or other operational issues.
- Works with engineering teams to modify machines and equipment for improved production and product quality.
- Reviews production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to identify and address issues with product specifications or operational problems.
- Creates and implements procedures to resolve operational issues and enhance product quality.
- Ensures compliance with all environmental, health, and safety regulations within the sawmill.
- Develops and manages budgets and cost controls, and gathers information on product types, quantities, specifications, and delivery schedules.
- Plans and oversees production activities, setting priorities to ensure effective operations and cost efficiency.
- Coordinates production efforts with procurement, maintenance, and quality control to maximize production efficiency and resource utilization.
- Oversees inspections of hydraulic units and drainage systems.
- Supervises employees across sawmill operations, including saw filers, log deck, and log yard staff as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma required.
- 5 years’ experience in wood/lumber products manufacturing.
- Strong interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving, and team-building abilities.
- Well-versed in optimization equipment and processes.
- Excellent organizational skills with experience in leading change initiatives.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with a track record of achieving goals and managing safety performance.
- Skilled communicator with proficiency in verbal, written, and presentation techniques.
- Comprehensive understanding of performance management and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Background in maintenance is a valuable asset.
