Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Guidance: Assist the Machine Shop Supervisor in leading and mentoring shop personnel.
- Process Improvement: Monitor methods and tooling via ERP reporting and audits, identifying and acting on improvement opportunities.
- Technical Training: Provide technical training in CNC equipment setup and operation.
- Production Coordination: Collaborate with supervisors and planners to achieve machining schedules efficiently.
- Quality Assurance: Perform inspections, ensure documentation accuracy, and monitor parts production to meet specifications.
- Equipment Operation & Maintenance: Safely set up and operate CNC/manual machines, maintain cleanliness, and perform basic maintenance.
- General Support: Assist in tool fabrication, resolve machining issues, and support other departments as needed.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Must have 7-10 years of hands-on experience in setting up and operating manual equipment, including engine lathes, vertical and horizontal milling machines, gear shapers, honing machines, drill presses, ID and surface grinders, tool grinders, band saws, and welding equipment.
- Must have 7-10 years of expertise in setting up, proving out, and operating CNC turning, milling, grinding, and gear shaping machines, with the ability to perform program edits, tool offsets, and compensations.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to shop personnel while supporting the Machine Shop Supervisor.
- Oversee production methods and tooling, using ERP systems and audits to identify and implement improvements.
