Job Summary:
The Mechanical Design Engineer leads the design process for projects, overseeing all phases from estimation and sales to customer interaction, manufacturing, and shipment.
Primary Responsibilities:
- The Mechanical Design Engineer must maintain project documentation, including engineering change orders, bills of materials (BOM), and product tables.
- Provide technical support during sales, including design estimates.
- Design equipment to meet requirements while balancing time and cost constraints.
- Answer technical questions and solve design, operation, and reliability issues.
- The Mechanical Design Engineer will create and manage design schedules, milestones, and the overall design package.
- Serve as the main point of contact for all technical communication with customers.
- Maintain design baselines and manage change orders.
- Address feedback from the shop floor on technical problems or improvements.
- The Mechanical Design Engineer will inspect equipment and manage FAT prior to shipment.
- Travel to customer sites for SAT and IQ/OQ.
- Manage the transition from 2D CAD to 3D SolidWorks, ensuring accurate data storage.
- Develop standardization systems while allowing for necessary design deviations.
- The Mechanical Design Engineer will implement continuous improvement practices within the engineering function.
- Establish policies and procedures for role-related tasks.
Qualifications & Skills:
- The Mechanical Design Engineer must hold a BS in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field.
- Must have 5+ years in a similar design engineering role working with SOLIDWORKS, from a metal stamping/manufacturing industry.
- Must have 10+ years with AutoCAD
- The Mechanical Design Engineer must have experience with ERP systems, industrial controls and Microsoft Office.
- Strong verbal and written communication.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- The Mechanical Design Engineer must be willing to work overtime as needed.
- Project Management experience preferred.
- Must be local or relocate on their own to CT
- Must be able to work without a sponsorship
