RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct chemical analyses and physical testing of raw materials, intermediates, and finished coatings products using a variety of analytical techniques and instrumentation.
- Monitor and optimize manufacturing processes to ensure consistent product quality, performance, and efficiency, while minimizing waste and environmental impact.
- Develop and improve coating formulations to meet customer specifications, performance requirements, and regulatory standards for Industrial, Defense, and Aerospace applications.
- Collaborate with R&D teams to scale up new coating technologies from the laboratory to commercial production, ensuring seamless technology transfer and successful product launches.
- Perform root cause analysis and troubleshoot production issues related to formulation, processing, or quality, implementing corrective actions and process improvements as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of laboratory experiments, test results, formulation data, and production parameters in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Support regulatory compliance initiatives, including REACH, RoHS, VOC emissions, and other environmental, health, and safety regulations applicable to coatings manufacturing.
- Participate in cross-functional teams focused on quality management, continuous improvement, and innovation, contributing technical expertise and insights to drive business objectives.
- Train and mentor laboratory technicians, production operators, and other team members on chemical handling, safety procedures, and quality control techniques.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive developments in coatings chemistry, materials science, and manufacturing processes, applying knowledge to enhance product performance and competitiveness.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field. Advanced degree preferred.
- Previous experience in coatings manufacturing, formulation development, or related industries, with a strong understanding of powder and liquid coating technologies for Industrial, Defense, and Aerospace applications.
- Proficiency in analytical techniques such as chromatography, spectroscopy, rheology, and surface analysis, with hands-on experience operating laboratory instrumentation.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and optimize coating formulations for specific performance attributes, such as adhesion, durability, corrosion resistance, and thermal stability.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex data, identify trends, and propose effective solutions to technical challenges.
- Knowledge of quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001), regulatory requirements (e.g., REACH, RoHS), and best practices for laboratory safety and chemical handling.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues across departments and disciplines, from R&D and manufacturing to sales and customer support.
