Job Responsibilities:
- The Press Operator, working in conjunction with the Press Feeder, assists in the production of high-quality printing jobs, to meet customer and company expectations, in a cost-effective manner while meeting strict deadlines, on one of several large printing presses.
- Strong attention to detail
- Self-motivated with a positive attitude and ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment
- Capable of managing multiple tasks effectively
- Proficient in following written and verbal instructions
- Skilled in clear communication with manufacturing personnel
- Basic computer knowledge required (familiarity with PSI and/or Prestige is a plus)
- Maintain accurate and thorough daily records for data collection
- Consistently meet company and departmental standards, including customer requirements, compliance, safety, and quality
Job Qualifications:
- High school graduate/GED
- Any trade experience is a plus
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience running a 6-color press with aqueous coating (Heidelberg Press experience preferred).
- Complete understanding of LAB values and image control via color scanning device
- Ability to achieve proper registration, ink and water balance and maintain color balance throughout job
- Working knowledge of dot gain, proper trap, inks and coatings and how they work with a multitude of substrates
- An understanding of plate curves and how they affect the CT in ¼ tone, mid tone and ¾ tone values
- Ability to retrieve JDF files, and to preset the CPC 2000 and set up press the most efficient way
- Good eye for color and be able to match proofs
- Knowledge and ability to hang blankets and plates, and to pack press properly
- Knowledge of the Alcolor Water System and Vario Roller Hickey Picking System
- Working knowledge of the Technotrans Cooling and Water System
- Be able to work at a high production rate in a fast-paced environment
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds regularly and 75 pounds on occasion
- Ability to operate motorized pallet jack and/or forklift (certification may be required)
