RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to identify nursing needs, formulate care plans, and evaluate outcomes.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed and monitor for effectiveness and side effects.
- Provide individualized patient care, offering support, counseling, and education to patients and their families regarding mental health conditions and treatment plans.
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other health professionals to develop and implement treatment plans.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and always ensure confidentiality.
- Participate in therapeutic group sessions and activities designed to enhance patient mental health and well-being.
- De-escalate volatile situations and employ crisis intervention techniques as necessary.
- Advocate for patients' rights and provide a safe, nurturing environment that respects cultural and individual differences.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current RN license in New York or eligibility for licensure.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Previous experience in behavioral health, psychiatric nursing, or a related field is highly desirable.
- Certification in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing (PMHN) is a plus.
- Strong assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
- Ability to handle high levels of stress and make decisions under pressure.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and adherence to the highest ethical standards.
