Responsibilities:
- Motivate and engage others to ensure cooperation in implementing effective safety programs, while managing multiple priorities and working with staff at all organizational levels.
- Oversee and manage compliance with the safety program, with a focus on coaching and monitoring Field Verification of Critical Controls to reduce exposure to serious injuries and fatalities, along with local incident prevention efforts.
- Implement procedures and initiatives to enhance the effectiveness of the safety program.
- Conduct safety orientations for new employees, deliver monthly safety meetings, provide ongoing safety training, and facilitate annual safety updates for employees, supervisors, and plant management.
- Monitor adherence to safety policies and procedures within the plant, reporting any discrepancies to plant management and the safety director.
- Coordinate the communication and dissemination of safety information.
- Collaborate with senior management and the safety team to set and manage organizational safety goals, metrics, and priorities.
- Serve as a subject matter expert to support internal customers by interpreting regulations and offering guidance for developing programs, policies, and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Must have a Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university is preferred, along with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience managing an organization's safety program; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must have 3 years MSHA experience
- Certified training in dust/silica and noise sampling is highly preferred.
- Strong ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business publications, professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations
