RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Clean and disinfect animal areas daily, including kennels, cages, and common areas to ensure a sterile environment.
- Operate and maintain sanitation equipment and tools, including pressure washers, vacuums, and mops.
- Properly dispose of animal waste and debris in accordance with health and safety regulations.
- Assist in the handling of animals during the cleaning process as necessary.
- Replenish animal supplies such as bedding, food, and water following sanitation procedures.
- Conduct regular checks and maintenance of facilities to ensure all areas are sanitized and free of pests.
- Adhere to and implement infection control protocols to prevent the spread of disease among animals and humans.
- Work closely with shelter staff to coordinate efforts and maintain effective communication regarding animal health and facility needs.
- Participate in training sessions to stay updated on the latest sanitation practices and animal welfare standards.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent; previous experience in janitorial or custodial work preferred.
- Experience working with animals is advantageous but not required.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.
- Physical ability to perform strenuous cleaning tasks and handle cleaning chemicals safely.
- Reliable and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Compassionate and patient with a genuine interest in animal welfare.
- Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions precisely.
