RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage the development and execution of manufacturing processes to ensure product functionality and cost-effectiveness. Facilitate collaboration among the engineering team and other manufacturing departments and establish best practices to optimize the manufacturing workflow. This role requires extensive knowledge of various manufacturing processes, mentoring of engineering personnel, and fostering cross-functional collaboration throughout the company.
- Process Development: Define and establish manufacturing and inspection processes.
- Routing Creation: Develop manufacturing routings based on project specifications from engineering.
- Product Flow Optimization: Assist in designing facilities and operations to enhance space utilization and product flow.
- Tool and Equipment Development: Create tools, fixtures, and test equipment necessary for manufacturing.
- Technology Identification: Explore new manufacturing technologies and equipment to reduce costs and risks while enhancing efficiency.
- New Product Introduction (NPI): Support the introduction of new products and legacy orders, collaborating with Program Managers and Project Engineers to meet shipping targets.
- Professional Standards: Exhibit responsibility and accountability for maintaining a professional, safe, and organized work environment, including punctuality, adherence to company policies, proper use of safety equipment, and compliance with safety practices.
- Work Instructions: Create and update work instructions and setup sheets.
- Control Plans: Establish control plans for critical features.
- Customer Compliance: Define inspection criteria to fulfill contractual customer requirements.
- Process Enhancement: Lead initiatives to improve manufacturing quality and efficiency.
- Root Cause Analysis: Identify and resolve root causes of quality defects arising from current manufacturing processes.
- Collaboration and Teamwork: Foster strong relationships and networks with managers, directors, and staff to work effectively towards common objectives.
- Other tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is preferred.
- 5 years of experience in developing manufacturing processes for machining, welding, and/or electromechanical assembly.
- 3 years of experience in a defense or aerospace job shop environment.
- Capability to obtain a security clearance is preferred.
- Proficient in mentoring both engineering and shop staff.
- Skilled in conducting effective root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Ability to operate within ERP/MRP guidelines.
- Competent in developing engineering standards to optimize engineering tasks.
- Proficient in various manufacturing processes, including:
- CNC machining
- Sandblasting, painting, coating, and plating
- Welding and straightening
- Heat treating
- Assembly
- Non-destructive testing
- Mechanical testing
