RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare the operating room for surgery, set up surgical instruments and equipment, ensure sterile conditions, and anticipate the needs of the surgical team.
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments and other sterile supplies, holding retractors, and helping to manage the surgical field.
- Monitor and maintain the sterile field throughout surgical procedures.
- Perform pre-operative and post-operative duties to ensure proper patient care, including taking vital signs, administering medications as directed, and assisting with wound care.
- Provide patients with emotional support and education regarding post-operative care.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records related to surgeries, patient care, and equipment inventories.
- Participate in the cleaning and restocking of the OR, adhering to infection control and safety policies.
- Collaborate with the OR team to evaluate practices and suggest improvements to ensure the highest standard of care.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist from an accredited program.
- Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in New York.
- BLS certification required; ACLS certification is a plus.
- Previous experience in an OR setting preferred, but not required.
- Strong understanding of aseptic techniques and surgical procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
- Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to patient safety and quality care.
