RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Implement and manage pre-trip and post-trip procedures to ensure a workplace free of accidents and injuries.
- Oversee and coordinate the maintenance and repair of trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment.
- Ensure all vehicles and drivers comply with DOT regulations and maintain accurate documentation.
- Adhere to preventive maintenance plan, ensuring full compliance at all times.
- Oversee maintenance and staffing for all heavy equipment.
- Ensure all staff receive proper training.
- Assess operational needs to determine staffing requirements and oversee recruitment efforts.
- Relay staffing needs to the headquarters recruiting team.
- Support the recruiting team by participating in interviews and managing applications.
- Oversee the onboarding process in the field.
- Ensure drivers consistently adhere to DOT hours of service regulations.
- Monitor and optimize the efficiency of drivers' loads, loading processes, and hauling operations.
- Supervise safe and proper loading practices.
- Maintain the fleet’s tire inflation according to company standards.
- Collect and record daily paperwork from drivers for payroll processing.
- Prepare reports to reflect daily production and plan/forecast operations for the upcoming week.
- Oversee the start of the day, including correct clock-in procedures and pre-trip inspections.
- Manage daily and weekly driver and loading schedules, including planning for time off.
- Make sure all units are pre-loaded for the following day, when necessary.
- Confirm that all loading equipment undergoes thorough pre-trip and post.
- Lead the training programs for both new and existing employees.
- Track and ensure the completion of all interval and vertical alliance training requirements.
- Educate all staff on safety protocols for driving and loading.
- Thoroughly analyze operational processes to identify and address potential issues.
- Organize and conduct safety meetings with drivers and loading staff on a monthly, bi-weekly, or weekly basis.
- Ensure that all new hires complete the necessary paperwork before their start date.
- Supervise the training and integration of new employees into their roles
- Other tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma required.
- 3 years’ experience in logistics, transportation, construction or waste industries.
- Valid CDL required.
- 3 years of management experience.
- Knowledge of DOT requirements.
- Experience managing operations including recruiting.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
