Responsibilities

- Employee Training and Competency Assessment:
- Assists in orienting and assessing the competency of toxicology employees.
- Staff Scheduling and Troubleshooting:
- Collaborates with supervisors or managers to schedule day-to-day work assignments.
- Helps troubleshoot test systems and determine appropriate actions.
- Quality Assurance and Communication:
- Independently identifies issues that may impact toxicology test results and promptly notifies management.
- Oversees toxicology testing operations in the absence of the department supervisor or manager.
- Manages toxicology inventory, including calibrators and quality controls (QCs).
- Ensures timely turnaround time (TAT) for toxicology testing.
- Communicates changes in testing or responsibilities to staff and reports delays to management.
- Performs final review of drug monitoring test results.
- Laboratory Operations and Instrumentation:
- Monitors toxicology pending cases.
- Coordinates instrument-to-instrument comparisons.
- Assists with reagent lot comparison and QC mean analysis.
- Prepares non-critical and critical solutions for testing.
- Conducts automated and routine extractions.
- Plans and conducts laboratory work independently.
- Documents procedural processes clearly and promptly.
- Performs basic maintenance and setup of LC-MS or HPLC instruments.
- Monitors assays on LC-MS or HPLC instruments.
- Analyzes and reports clinical test data.
- Applies troubleshooting skills to instrumentation.
- Lab Maintenance and Inventory:
- Maintains lab cleanliness, including glassware and biohazard bins.
- Assists with paperwork associated with daily production runs.
- Manages laboratory inventory.

- Holds a Bachelor’s degree and/or Master’s degree in a scientific field.
- Must have supervisory experience
- Has over 3 years of preferred laboratory experience.
- Possesses 3+ years of extraction experience.
- Demonstrates expertise with LC-MS technology for 3+ years.
- Brings 3+ years of specific experience in toxicology.
