RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The Vice President Engineering must oversee, the design and development of tools for the manufacture of plastic and pulp packaging
- Must support initiatives to achieve continuous improvement in tooling, support, and coordinate all automation projects and initiatives to improve labor and equipment efficiency and improve ergonomic conditions for the floor personnel
- Track progress of all engineering projects at the manufacturing plants identifying issues or concerns and supports resolution
- Must inform senior management of progresses via status updates and reports
- Oversee the Machine operation to achieve improved speed and profitability by identifying technologies to increase efficiency of existing equipment and tooling
- Must develop proposals and capital requests for necessary capacity expansions, building and infrastructure development, and other upgrades
- The Vice President Engineering must oversee the execution of large construction projects and equipment installations.
- Ensure projects are delivered within agreed upon budgets and timeframes and support the plants to use electricity efficiently
- Track and report on capital project spending, monitor energy usage at each plant
- Must work towards installing energy-saving systems
- Must oversee projects, exceed customers’ expectations in the delivery of costing/pricing, designs, and prototypes
- Ensure streamlined and focused Stage Gate process is utilized
- The Vice President Engineering must take part in hiring process, and provides performance feedback and ongoing development to engineering team
QUALIFICATIONS:
- The Vice President Engineering must hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in Plastics, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering
- Must have 15+ years of experience in the packaging industry
- Must have experience in extrusion and thermoforming and paperboard processes
- Must have 10+ years of experience in engineering roles and leadership in a manufacturing environment
- Strong project management skills
- Experience in a multi-site manufacturing organization, global experience is a plus
- Robust knowledge of Lean / Six Sigma principles and concepts
- Must have strong written and oral communication skills
- Bilingual especially in a Spanish speaking environment
- Must have experience in data analysis, change management, and process improvement activities
